Chevron Island,
Home of the Arts

Having always been a strong supporter of the arts, Bensons have commissioned over $1 million in artworks for Chevron One from internationally acclaimed artists, James Parrett, Deborah Halpern and Frank Malerba. These artworks will help to align Chevron Island with neighbouring HOTA as Gold Coast’s arts precinct and will sit in the dedicated yoga and sculpture garden, part of the resort-style amenities of Club One Resident’s Club.

One of the featured artists is renowned Australian sculptor, James Parrett. His piece created for Chevron One, ‘M40’, is a curved and vibrant artwork, referencing the animal and human form. The work also provides a direct reflection of the organic sculptural design of Chevron One which has been architecturally inspired by the iconic Gold Coast symbols of the sun, beach and ocean.

JAMES PARRETT

An Australian sculptor, Parrett’s artworks pose questions of form, sculptural process and material. The sinuous sculptures, constructed mainly from stainless steel and marine ply, are inviting but the ruggedness of the deliberately exposed welds, screw heads and unsanded corners maintain our awareness of the materials used.

DEBORAH HALPERN

One of Australia’s most celebrated sculptors, Halpern, is known for her prominent works of public art. She is a sculptor, mosaic and ceramic artist inspired by the free spirit of Pablo Picasso. One of her biggest sculptures, ‘Angel’, was commissioned by the National Gallery of Victoria, while her ‘Ophelia’ sculpture is the official face of Melbourne for Tourism Victoria.

FRANK MALERBA

Melbourne-based artist, Malerba, is nationally recognised for his sculptural pieces, bringing line drawing to life using laser cut steel. His lyrical sculpture, capturing the fleeting moods and female forms of his models, will adorn the landscaped sculpture garden at Chevron One.
