A BRIGHT OUTLOOK FOR CHEVRON ISLAND

INFRASTRUCTURE

The Gold Coast saw significant infrastructure investment in the lead up to the 2018 Commonwealth Games. This is anticipated to continue with projects totalling $10.9 billion in the pipeline and 215 identified infrastructure projects across the Gold Coast and surrounding area now under construction.*

GOLD COAST LIGHT RAIL

Stages 1 and 2 of the Gold Coast Light Rail have been completed. Stage 3 will compromise of approximately seven kilometres of dual light rail track with eight new stations, extending the existing line from Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads and then to the Gold Coast Airport and Coolangatta along the Gold Coast Highway. The Gold Coast City Council’s City Transport Strategy 2031 planning document notes further expansion of the light rail network are possible with potential future lines including:

Broadbeach to Nerang
Surfers Paradise to Bundall, and
Gold Coast University Hospital to Biggera Waters

GOLD COAST CULTURAL PRECINCT

Covering an area of 16.9 hectares and located a short walk from Chevron Island, HOTA (Home of the Arts) is currently being redeveloped. The redevelopment includes a stage and event platform in a garden-style amphitheatre. Artscape works will activate artistic programs, markets, festivals, cinemas and family recreation. A pedestrian and cycle bridge (under construction) will connect the precinct to Chevron Island and on to Surfers Paradise. Further stages of the Cultural Precinct will include a central Art Tower and Great Hall along with new and refurbished performing arts facilities.

POPULATION GROWTH

Looking forward to 2041, residents of Chevron Island aged 45 and over will make up 42 per cent of the population. Given the location of the island, this is ideal for residents attracted to convenience and accessibility. Chevron Island has access to public transport networks and major roads leading into key employment precincts in addition to a high level of leisure, amenity and retail opportunities that are easily accessible by walking, public transport or car.

PRESTIGE APARTMENT MARKET

Analysis of apartment sales transactions priced at $1 million and over during the past 10 years demonstrates that sales have been steadily increasing within the area, in particular over the past six years. Recent peak periods for apartment sale transactions with price points greater than $1 million have been in 2017 and 2018.*
